We are pleased to announce that we now offer a full professional refurbishment service for SU electric fuel pumps, alongside our existing carburettor rebuild service.
The SU electric fuel pump is a robust and elegant piece of engineering, but after decades of service — and particularly with the increased use of ethanol-blend fuels — the internal components inevitably wear. A pump that clicks but delivers poor pressure, or one that has stopped working entirely, is nearly always repairable, and a properly rebuilt pump will outlast a cheap pattern replacement by a considerable margin.
What the Service Includes
Every pump we handle goes through the same thorough process:
- Full strip and inspection
- Bead blast and repaint of the pump body
- New rubber diaphragm (modern ethanol-resistant compound)
- New gaskets and seals throughout
- New brass spacers
- Armature spring replacement
- Rocker mechanism overhaul
- New valve seat
- New terminal stud and spring washer
- Bench test before return
Where contact points are fitted, these are inspected and renewed as required. We can also fit an electronic conversion to eliminate points entirely — ask us for details.
Pricing
We offer two service levels:
- Single pump refurbishment — £145
- Dual pump refurbishment — £290 (where two pumps are fitted, e.g. on certain competition or larger-displacement applications)
Parts required for the rebuild are included in the price. If any additional components are needed — such as a replacement body where the original is cracked — we will advise before proceeding.
Turnaround and Guarantee
We aim to complete pump refurbishments within five to seven working days of receipt. All refurbished pumps carry our 2-year guarantee on all fitted components.
How to Send Your Pump
Get in touch via our contact page and we will confirm the service details and provide our postal address. We recommend draining any residual fuel from the pump before sending.
